I haven’t blogged in a while because I’ve made some changes in my life. After returning from Provence last fall, I decided to sell my beloved (three-story) house on Fountain Place and move to a one level ranch style one across town on Forestdale Drive. My cats, Charlie and Lynx, and I settled here just before Christmas. The previous owner is an artist, so the perfect sun-filled room for my new studio was an easy choice. Tracy had already blessed the space. The boxes are finally unpacked, my paintings are hung and, at long last, I have returned to my palette and easel. I am also excited to have finished my first commission-Janet's Loved Ones.
I like to think of life as a dance. At times we swirl in energetic tempo…at other times we slow the rhythm in need of stillness and healing. It’s been three years since I lost Larry to cancer. We bought Fountain Place together in 1997 so our blended families could have space. My memories are fond and cherished. Open fires in the library, white lights winding through the greenery up the banister, dinners by candlelight in the dining room, the soothing sound of the fountain on the side porch, our beautiful rose gardens, the grand oak in the back, the majestic pines in the front, Larry’s gourmet cooking. After France, I felt a shift, a desire to begin a new chapter, to venture forward with my life. The rhythm of Forestdale is easygoing and simpler, spring is literally bursting in the yard, the cats seem happy, and granddaughters, Piper and Quinn, love Granna’s new house. I begin mornings with meditation in the sunroom, Charlie sprawled on the rug in front of my chair. I plan to paint more, write more, meditate more and breathe more. I am ready to begin this new dance.
