Alexander and Annie
A few months ago I lost my 17-year-old cats, Charlie and Lynx, within weeks of each other. I considered adopting new ones perhaps following the painting trip in Provence. But Janice started sending me photos of the spring kittens at Sparkle Cat Rescue and my heart went out to the tuxedo babies. What I didn’t realize is that tuxedo kittens are in high demand and I would be put on a waiting list. When I mentioned I hoped to adopt male and female siblings, I learned of a pair of 5-month-olds in a foster home nearby. Naturally, off Janice and I went for visitation! Of course, the rest of the story is history. The next afternoon, following a shopping spree at Pet Smart, we were ready for delivery. Alexander (Alex) and Annie are now well settled in their new home on Forestdale Drive.
My sweet companions love the sunporch where they watch birds and the occasional scurrying chipmunk while I enjoy my morning coffee. My art studio duals as their sunny playroom with Annie often curling up in a basket during a painting session. I find them both on my bed each morning, Alex settling on my chest for a friendly wake-up call. They scamper and play with amazing energy, over and under furniture. Alex’s toy of choice is a small rubber ball he carries in his mouth room to room. Annie is attached to a satiny blue ribbon that mysteriously has disappeared! Likely we'll find it under one of the sofas, their go-to hiding places when the Molly Maids arrive.
Alex and Annie are inseparable pals, so I decided to paint a favorite photo of them perched on an antique chest in the living room. Yes, they are definitely climbers! I hope I captured their unique personalities and fur patterns. I used Jill's colors from Cezanne’s palette to bring in the warmth of Provence.
We all deal with losses in our lives, both people and pets, and we have options how we respond. I am thrilled with new life in the white house on Forestdale Drive. I choose joy and am thrilled with new life in this white brick house on Forestdale Drive.
Thanks Janice, my friend.
My heart is, indeed, blessed.
